Madison Plummer is making NFL history.
At just 23, Plummer has become the first Black woman to hold a full-time equipment position in the NFL, per Andscape. Plummer joined the Los Angeles Rams' staff ahead of the 2025 season.
“Madison is awesome,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said in a statement. “She’s highly productive and secure in herself. She immerses in the work and contributes every day.”
Plummer’s journey began in Slidell, Louisiana, where her father, former NFL player and longtime scout Bruce Plummer, introduced her to the game. What started as a high school team manager role evolved into internships at Mississippi State, the Chicago Bears, and two summer stints with the Rams.
Madison Plummer completed a yearlong fellowship with the Rams and graduated with a degree in sports administration before being hired full-time by the team. Plummers' responsibilities include packing for road games, prepping practice gear, handling player apparel, and managing equipment logistics across continents, including for recent back-to-back games in Baltimore and London.
Plummer said she enjoys the role despite the demanding scheduling.
“I never really associate what I do as being work. It’s just something I really enjoy," she said.
Plummer's historic hiring is changing the landscape of one of the NFL’s most male-dominated spaces.
“At just 23, she’s not only breaking barriers… she’s setting a powerful example,” Troy Vincent, NFL executive vice president of football operations, said in a statement. “This is what football for all looks like.”
