A Dallas Uber driver is facing backlash after she was caught on video calling 911 on a Black passenger who simply asked to play music during a ride.

The passenger, Jamil Fullman, who goes by @sayheyjay on TikTok, shared multiple clips of the incident, which have drawn nearly 700,000 views and widespread outrage online.

Fullman said he and his friend were heading to the State Fair of Texas when he asked the driver if he could play music through her Bluetooth or aux cord. The woman declined, saying she didn't want to connect a device while driving.

Later during the ride, the car came to a standstill in traffic, prompting Fullman to make the request again. Fullman suggested she try connecting the phone or turning on the radio instead.

The driver then started to claim that she felt unsafe and threatened to call 911.

“I’m not comfortable. I will pull over, you cancel the ride,” the driver told Fullman. “I’m gonna call the cops because I’m scared. My whole body is shaking. The way you guys are, like, forcing me.”

Fullman repeatedly assured the driver that he wasn't upset or demanding anything.

“I apologize if I offended you,” Fullman said.

“My whole body is shaking. No, I’m not gonna take you to the destination. What if you guys might hurt me? I’m not comfortable,” the woman responded.

Fullman then asked the woman to pull over so he and his friend could get out of the vehicle. Instead, the driver called 911 and put the dispatcher on speakerphone.

“He is asking me to play music while I’m driving on the highway, and I explained many times that, ‘sir, I cannot; this is dangerous,’” the driver told the 911 dispatcher. “I don’t know, ma’am. I don’t feel safe. I just want you to stay with me until I drop him.”

Following the call, the driver pulled over and let Fullman and his friend out of the car.

Social media users blasted the driver for her behavior.

“She can’t turn on the radio because she’s driving but can have a full-blown argument while looking at y’all through her back window? He was calm and respectful but yet she was scared?” one user commented.

“She’s just trying to weaponize the police,” another person wrote.

Fullman said he filed a complaint with Uber, but he hasn't received a response from the company.
