Pastor Mike Todd has responded to comedian Druski's viral parody of a Black megachurch, a skit many viewers believe was inspired by the famed preacher.

Druski’s video, posted last week, quickly took off on social media, racking up nearly 8 million likes and close to 70,000 comments on TikTok. In the skit, Druski plays an over-the-top pastor who descends from the ceiling, flaunts designer clothes, and does the worm on stage.

Soon after the video’s release, social media users began drawing comparisons to Todd, the pastor of Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Todd is known for his viral sermons and unconventional methods, including getting a haircut while preaching and once pouring syrup on a Bible as part of a sermon illustration.

Todd addressed the skit during a recent sermon, saying he found it “hilarious” but denying that it was a personal jab at him. Instead, Todd framed the parody as a broader critique of misplaced priorities within Christian culture.

“Do you know how many people didn’t spend time with their kids, fighting with somebody they don’t know in the comments?” Todd asked his congregation. “There were people who did not do what God said to do this week, ’cause they needed to be in the know of what was happening in culture.”

Todd described the reaction to the skit as a “distraction,” arguing that the real issue was believers losing focus on their spiritual assignments.

Many social media users argued that Todd's response itself showed distraction.

“The fact that you’re talking about it so long, showing that you’re distracted and your focus is gone,” one Instagram user wrote. “You should be preaching the word, but you’re distracted by the video.”

Others said the moment could have been used as a chance for reflection within the Black church.

“This would have been better if he would have just laughed, acknowledged that it was funny and accurate, said ‘yes we do need to do better if this is how we’re being perceived,’ and went on about his day with an uplifting sermon,” another commenter wrote.
