A video of a Black man being tasered by a Texas police officer for trespassing outside of a store he co-founded is going viral.

Marcus Bowser, co-founder of She’s Happy Hair, was livestreaming on Monday (April 13) at the business’s Houston location when a police officer arrived on the scene.

According to The Atlanta Black Star, the officer cited an affidavit claiming Bowser was no longer the owner of the property and asked him to leave, which he refused.

Bowser had reportedly called the police earlier after employees blocked him from entering the store.

The officer then tasered Bowser and left him handcuffed in the back seat of a police vehicle for over an hour.

"I feel I was wrongfully tased,” Bowser said in a recent interview on The Isiah Factor, where he discussed the video and its aftermath. "I’m glad it was livestreamed, and I’m blessed he didn’t pull his gun — that it was just the taser this time.”

Police have yet to present the aforementioned affidavit. The situation comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Bowser and fellow She’s Happy Hair co-founder Warren Broadnax, who filed a lawsuit against Bowser in November 2024, according to The Atlanta Black Star

The suit, which Broadnax amended in February, accuses Bowser of transferring $90,000 from company funds to his personal bank account over five days in October 2024.

It also alleges that Bowser used the company credit card for personal expenses and has a history of aggressive behavior directed at Broadnax and other employees.

A judge placed a temporary restraining order on Bowser in December 2025, barring him from entering any of the company’s business locations. However, the order reportedly expired in January, with no current record of its reinstatement.

Bowser filed a counterclaim in February as well, denying the allegations and accusing Broadnax of similar actions.

Court filings by employees offer conflicting accounts of each owner’s version of events. One alleges that Bowser repeatedly intimidated employees and disrupted business operations, while Broadnax promoted a “safe and professional environment.”

Another filing, however, states the opposite, claiming that Broadnax ordered employees to “exaggerate or fabricate” any incident involving Bowser.
